שִׁ֖יר מִזְמ֣וֹר לְדָוִֽד׃ A song. A psalm of David.
נָכ֣וֹן לִבִּ֣י אֱלֹהִ֑ים אָשִׁ֥ירָה וַ֝אֲזַמְּרָ֗ה אַף־כְּבוֹדִֽי׃ aWith vv. 2–6, cf. Ps. 57.8–12.My heart is firm, O God;
I will sing and chant a hymn with all my soul.
ע֭וּרָֽה הַנֵּ֥בֶל וְכִנּ֗וֹר אָעִ֥ירָה שָּֽׁחַר׃ Awake, O harp and lyre!
I will wake the dawn.
אוֹדְךָ֖ בָעַמִּ֥ים ׀ יְהֹוָ֑ה וַ֝אֲזַמֶּרְךָ֗ בַּלְאֻמִּֽים׃ I will praise You among the peoples, O LORD,
sing a hymn to You among the nations;
כִּי־גָד֣וֹל מֵעַל־שָׁמַ֣יִם חַסְדֶּ֑ךָ וְֽעַד־שְׁחָקִ֥ים אֲמִתֶּֽךָ׃ for Your faithfulness is higher than the heavens;
Your steadfastness reaches to the sky.
ר֣וּמָה עַל־שָׁמַ֣יִם אֱלֹהִ֑ים וְעַ֖ל כׇּל־הָאָ֣רֶץ כְּבוֹדֶֽךָ׃ Exalt Yourself over the heavens, O God;
let Your glory be over all the earth!
לְ֭מַעַן יֵחָלְצ֣וּן יְדִידֶ֑יךָ הוֹשִׁ֖יעָה יְמִֽינְךָ֣ וַעֲנֵֽנִי׃ bWith vv. 7–14, cf. Ps. 60.7–14.That those whom You love may be rescued,
deliver with Your right hand and answer me.
אֱלֹהִ֤ים ׀ דִּבֶּ֥ר בְּקׇדְשׁ֗וֹ אֶ֫עְלֹ֥זָה אֲחַלְּקָ֥ה שְׁכֶ֑ם וְעֵ֖מֶק סֻכּ֣וֹת אֲמַדֵּֽד׃ God promised cOr “by His holiness.”in His sanctuary-c
that I would exultingly divide up Shechem,
and measure the Valley of Sukkoth;
לִ֤י גִלְעָ֨ד ׀ לִ֤י מְנַשֶּׁ֗ה וְ֭אֶפְרַיִם מָע֣וֹז רֹאשִׁ֑י יְ֝הוּדָ֗ה מְחֹקְקִֽי׃ Gilead and Manasseh would be mine,
Ephraim my chief stronghold,
Judah my scepter;
מוֹאָ֤ב ׀ סִ֬יר רַחְצִ֗י עַל־אֱ֭דוֹם אַשְׁלִ֣יךְ נַעֲלִ֑י עֲלֵי־פְ֝לֶ֗שֶׁת אֶתְרוֹעָֽע׃ Moab would be my washbasin;
on Edom I would cast my shoe;
I would raise a shout over Philistia.
מִ֣י יֹ֭בִלֵנִי עִ֣יר מִבְצָ֑ר מִ֖י נָחַ֣נִי עַד־אֱדֽוֹם׃ Would that I were brought to the bastion!
Would that I were led to Edom!
הֲלֹֽא־אֱלֹהִ֥ים זְנַחְתָּ֑נוּ וְֽלֹא־תֵצֵ֥א אֱ֝לֹהִ֗ים בְּצִבְאֹתֵֽינוּ׃ But You have rejected us, O God;
God, You do not march with our armies.
הָבָה־לָּ֣נוּ עֶזְרָ֣ת מִצָּ֑ר וְ֝שָׁ֗וְא תְּשׁוּעַ֥ת אָדָֽם׃ Grant us Your aid against the foe,
for the help of man is worthless.
בֵּאלֹהִ֥ים נַֽעֲשֶׂה־חָ֑יִל וְ֝ה֗וּא יָב֥וּס צָרֵֽינוּ׃ {פ}
With God we shall triumph;
He will trample our foes.
